(株)トーダンは1903年に東京団扇合名会社として創業されました。
当時､商売の主力は団扇(うちわ)の製造卸で､閑散期の冬にはカレンダーの卸売りを行なっていましたが団扇の商売は縮小していき､事業の主体は次第にカレンダーに移っていきます。
カレンダーの専門メーカーとなってからは独自のデザイン、高品質な商品を開発するため企画部門を設け､オリジナリティー溢れる商品を次々に発表して参りました。
60年代､70年代はユニークな企画でヒットを連発し、フイルムカレンダーのような高級商品により独自の存在感が認められるようになり、80年代に入ってからはＰＬＡＹＢＯＹやＴＶアニメなど有名ブランドのライセンス商品、90年代にはやすらぎや癒しをテーマにした企画や有名人気画家によるアートシリーズを発表しました。21世紀に入り､デザインと実用性の融合をテーマに業界初のＵＤ(ユニバーサルデザイン)商品に取り組み、また現代和風デザインをテーマとした商品など意欲的な企画で業界をリードしています。
製造面においては、カレンダー専用工場として東洋一の規模を誇る茨城工場を1981年に竣工し、印刷・製本・名入れ・保管・出荷の一環体制を確立致しました。
また業界初のコンピュータによる、受注から納期までの一括工程管理を実現し、迅速でタイムリーな生産と正確な納期管理が可能になりました。現在ではＴＫＫ活動と称して品質改善とコストダウンに取り組んでいます。

2003年にはトーダン・ロジスティックス・センター(ＴＬＣ)を建設し、21世紀の鍵となる物流システムの合理化にも取り組んでおります。同年､米国カリフォルニア州に現地法人のＴＯＤＡＮ ＵＳＡ, ＩＮＣ．を設立しアメリカ市場での販売にも乗り出しています。

Todan Co., Ltd. was founded in 1903 as a fan manufacturing company. In those days, Todan's main products were fans. During winter, the low season, we sold calendars to stay in business. Yet fan sales slowly decreased and gradually, the company grew to become a calendar manufacturer.
As a specialist in calendars, Todan Company has developed a designing division to produce unique designs and high quality products. Calendars full of originality have been released from the company throughout the years.
In the 1960s and 1970s, distinctive design of Todan brought success. High-class products, such as film calendars, supported the company to be recognized.
In the 1980s, we introduced licensed products such as PLAYBOY calendars, products of popular TV cartoons and programs, and famous brand-name goods.
In the 1990s, the theme for our project was to bring comfort, peace, and healing. We introduced a visual arts series in our line of calendars. Calendars of the works of famous and popular artists became an instant hit.
Entering the 21st century, we were the first to introduce UD (Universal Design) products to the calendar industry. We have successfully taken the lead in the industry with design- and practicability-incorporated products, in addition to the modern Japanese-style products.
On the aspect of manufacturing, we completed the erection of the Ibaraki Factory, the largest exclusive calendar factory in the Orient. At the praised factory, we have constructed a unified system consisting of printing, binding, imprinting, and shipping departments, and a spacious storage space. Todan is also the first in the calendar industry to fully computerize the system to ensure the smooth running of the import and export of products. We have also begun to take computerized orders, guaranteeing smooth processing management. Presently, we are working on enhancing this product quality refinement activity, known as the TKK Operation. We are proud of the efficiency and accuracy of our productivity, and the improved swiftness of deliveries and payments have led our company to prosperity.
In 2003, the Todan Logistics Center (TLC) was erected. We are working on the rationalization of the physical distribution system, the key to success in the 21st century. In the same year, Todan USA, Inc. was founded in the state of California. We are making steady progress with calendar sales and company awareness in the United States.
