六曜
六曜ってナニ？
六曜とは日本のカレンダーに記載されている日毎に吉凶を見るもので、先勝、友引、先負、仏滅、大安、赤口の6種類をいいます。発祥は中国で、六曜を軍略に用いていたという説もありますが定かではありません。14世紀頃に中国から日本に伝来し、解釈や順序も少しずつ変化し19世紀初頭から現在の形になりました。一見、仏教と関係しているようですが、一切関係はなく民間習俗によるものです。今日の日本において六曜は手帳、カレンダーに記載されていて、主に冠婚葬祭に使用されることが多いです。

六曜の英文説明
日本のカレンダーの多くに六曜が掲載されています。欧米の方から質問された時にご使用下さい。
What is Rokuyou? You can find Rokuyou（六曜）in many of the Japanese calendars when you look carefully.
Its origin is China. Rokuyou was introduced to Japan in the 14th century, and finally came to the present style in the 19th century. It has nothing to do with Buddhism but is simply from the folk belief. Some people say that Rokuyou was made for stratagems, but there is no proof about that.
Nowadays, Japanese people use Rokuyou to set a date for ceremonial occasions.
As Roku means six in Japanese, it is divided into six ways of foreseeing the day.
Here are explanations of each way:
1. Senshou(先勝) - Make a quick decision and act for everything brings a fortune. All the good lucks will be with you in the morning. Bad lucks in the afternoon.
2. Tomobiki(友引) - The outcome of the game will be a tie. Good for festivities. Good luck in the morning and evening, bad luck around noon.
3. Senpu(先負) - Wait and take your time until your decision will be concrete. Bad luck in the morning. All the good lucks will be with you in the afternoon.
4. Butsumetsu(仏滅) - Nothing can be achieved successfully. Don't start a new project.
5. Taian(大安) - Good day for everything, including travel, move, marriage, and new business.
6. Shakkou(赤口) - Bad luck for celebration. Be careful with fire. Bad luck in the morning, good luck in the afternoon.
